Russian forces are constantly shelling the Kherson region—specifically the Kherson community—keeping the security situation dire.
Russian drones pose the greatest threat, effectively hunting people on the streets. To terrorize the local population, Russian troops are deploying FPV drones, Mavic-type reconnaissance UAVs, Molniya-type strike drones, and drones used to lay mines.
Since the beginning of October, 44 people have been injured and two others killed as a result of Russian shelling in the Kherson community.
“A significant number of these injuries were caused specifically by Russian drone attacks. The Russians target civilians in residential neighborhoods and on the streets, leaving virtually no safe space for people to go about their daily lives,” noted Yaroslav Shanko.
On October 14 alone, three people were injured in Russian drone attacks in the Korabelnyi district of Kherson.
According to the Defense Forces, the Russians are continuing to “freely hunt” vehicles using fiber-optic-guided drones—targeting, in particular, vehicles that could be identified as belonging to the Defense Forces. “The risk of strikes is increasing near areas where vehicles congregate, such as supermarkets, markets, and gas stations,” the statement reads. Authorities urge residents of the community to heed air raid alerts and avoid open areas. They are advised to remain especially vigilant at public transport stops, near shops, government institutions, medical facilities, gas stations, and parking lots.
Last week, from October 5 to 11, Russian forces launched 3,268 UAVs (drones) toward the right-bank (Ukrainian-controlled) part of the Kherson region; the Defense Forces of Ukraine managed to destroy or neutralize over 3,000 of them.
