327 people have died in Ukraine from mines and explosives since the beginning of the Russian invasion

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 327 people have died and 794 have been injured by mines and explosives. This was reported by the Mine Action Center.

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 327 people have died and another 794 have been injured by mines and explosives.

According to the Mine Action Center, since February 24, 2022, 783 incidents related to mines and explosive remnants of war have occurred in Ukraine. Only in the recent period, 23 new cases have been recorded, resulting in six deaths and twenty injuries.

Most of the incidents occurred in fields – 191 cases, in yards – 183, and on roads – 147. In addition, 127 cases were recorded in forests, 91 – in buildings and 44 – on water bodies.

The Mine Action Center notes that mine danger remains a critical problem in Ukraine. Explosive objects threaten the lives of people both in front-line areas and in liberated territories. Mines left in agricultural fields are especially dangerous, where 191 incidents occurred, complicating the work of farmers and threatening the country’s food security.

Roads also remain dangerous: 147 cases of explosive detonations were recorded, endangering the lives of drivers and civilians. There were 183 incidents in the courtyards of residential buildings, highlighting the risk even in the immediate vicinity of people’s homes.

127 incidents were recorded in forests, posing a threat to those working in the forest industry or visiting these areas. There were 44 incidents in water bodies, and 91 incidents indoors, indicating the danger even in buildings.

Specialists from the Mine Action Center urge citizens to be extremely careful and avoid suspicious objects. In case of discovery of explosive objects, the relevant services should be immediately notified.
