On the second anniversary of the occupation of Energodar and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, shared current information about the situation. Fedorov noted that there is a significant shortage of qualified specialists at the ZNPP, as half of the positions remain unfilled. At the same time, nuclear engineers brought from Russia do not have the necessary experience to work with the plant’s specific equipment.
He also emphasized that the ZNPP has turned into a potential source of nuclear threat to the international community due to the overstaying of spent nuclear fuel and damage to radiation control sensors near the dry storage area.
In addition, Fedorov reported on regular shelling around the ZNPP, placement of enemy heavy equipment on the territory of the station and mining of the perimeter.
In order to force cooperation with the Russian Federation, residents of Energodar have been kidnapped and held captive for the past two years. There are about ten prison torture chambers in the city and on the territory of the ZNPP industrial zone, through which more than 1,500 people have passed.
