25-year-old police lieutenant Alina Mykolaets died as a result of a rocket attack on Chernihiv

A 25-year-old police lieutenant, Alina Mykolaets, died from a shrapnel wound as a result of a rocket attack on Chernigov on Wednesday, April 17. This is reported by the police of the Chernihiv region.

As noted in the report, Alina was at home on sick leave during the attack that the Russians inflicted on a densely populated residential area of the city.

Alina Mykolaets was an inspector of the reaction department of the patrol police of the Chernihiv district administration. She served in the police since June 2023.

“The entire police team of the Chernihiv region bows its head in mourning and expresses its sincere condolences to Alina’s relatives and friends and to all those who lost their relatives and friends today,” the message reads.

According to Ivan Ishchenko, the head of the National Police in the Chernihiv Region, the debris broke through the roof of the car and hit Alina Mykolaets in the head.

“She took sick leave from yesterday. She was in a car with a young man directly opposite the object that suffered. As luck would have it, a shrapnel through the roof of the car hit her in the head,” Ishchenko said.
