Russians in Mariupol, temporarily captured by the Russian army, destroy the building of the Society for the Promotion of the Defense of Ukraine.

This was reported by the city council of Ukrainian Mariupol and published a corresponding video from the scene.

“The Russians continue to destroy Mariupol. Not only residents’ houses, but also landmark buildings are subject to demolition. Yes, now the Russians have started demolishing the building of the Society for the Promotion of the Defense of Ukraine, which is located in the historical center of the city,” the report says.

It is noted that before the occupation, it was planned to carry out the reconstruction of the Liberation Square and this building of the Society for the Promotion of the Defense of Ukraine – in 2020, the German architectural team won the International Competition of ideas for the improvement of the site.

“The building was supposed to get a new life, and there was supposed to be a European space around it, where the people of Mariupol could rest and walk. But the Russians destroyed all the plans and the city…”, the city council stated.

As reported, the Russians recently destroyed a monument in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Ukrainian Cossacks in the temporarily captured Mariupol.

Russia’s aggression caused one of the biggest humanitarian disasters in Mariupol. Almost 90% of the city was destroyed by shelling. Damaged and destroyed residential buildings, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, enterprises, etc.

The Russians are turning Mariupol and the surrounding villages into a military logistics hub.
