On Easter, May 5, the Russian military dropped nine guided aerial bombs and unified cross-species planning munitions on the territory of the Kharkiv region. The region was also shelled with other types of weapons. May 6, shelling continues since morning. In addition, Russian reconnaissance drones are recording in the air. Therefore, residents of the Kharkiv region are urged to stay in shelters during an air alert.

“Yesterday alone, they used a total of nine guided aerial bombs and unified inter-species planning munitions, one unmanned Shahed, an anti-aircraft missile system, artillery fire,” said Volodymyr Tymoshko, head of the Kharkiv Oblast National Police Headquarters. “In general, the Russians strike constantly, every day And today we are recording the presence of UAVs over the border area, as well as over the city. Therefore, it is possible that there will be strikes now. We warn all residents to stay as close as possible to the shelters. the Russians are only intensifying and intensifying.”

On May 5, the Russians used a one-and-a-half-ton high-explosive aerial bomb to attack the village of Monachynivka (Kupiansky district). The strike was carried out at 15:25. An 88-year-old woman died and a 34-year-old and a 66-year-old man were injured as a result of the shelling. At least 15 residential buildings were damaged in the village. For the first time, the Russians dropped an aerial bomb of such weight on Kharkiv Oblast. As Volodymyr Tymoshko pointed out, there was not a single military facility there, the Russians targeted the civilian infrastructure.

“This is the first time we have recorded the use of this type of weapon by the Russians. This does not mean that they could not have used it before, because we have areas of territory that are currently occupied, there are areas where active hostilities are taking place, and therefore we we do not guarantee that they did not use it before. However, we recorded the first use of the 1,500-kilogram bomb, which was indeed used in the Kupyan district. The strike damaged a significant number of private houses , a civilian died. The place where this bomb hit is a purely civilian infrastructure. There is no military infrastructure in the place where it hit. Devastating consequences for almost the entire neighborhood, that’s all located in the neighborhood, was almost destroyed to the foundation.”

According to Tymoshko, the Russians are trying to inflict maximum damage on civilians with such strikes. That is why they strike during the day. Most hits are recorded from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
