On May 30, 15 forest fires are being extinguished in the Kharkiv region. The fire covered more than three thousand hectares of forests. Most of these fires were caused by Russian shelling.
This was reported in the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of the Kharkiv region.
Firefighters of the State Emergency Service and employees of forestry managed to localize 10 fires on an area of about 170 hectares.
“Rescuers and foresters work in extremely difficult conditions, when they detonate unexploded ordnance, as well as being under constant enemy attacks. The main task is to prevent it from spilling over to other forest areas and adjacent residential sectors,” the report says.
130 rescuers with the help of sappers and medics are currently fighting fires. 46 employees have been recruited from forestry farms.
Smog and the smell of smoke hang over Kharkiv.
