A new round of appropriation of Ukrainian housing has begun in the Zaporizhzhia region: what did the occupation authorities come up with

In the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, the “new government” activated the so-called nationalization of housing. And in order for the appropriation process to go smoothly, the procedure for registering real estate for local residents has been strengthened and a new structure has been created. Today, it is almost impossible to prove that the apartment is yours.

Looting is “in the law”

The pseudo-governor of the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, Yevhen Balytskyi, is disturbed by the successful experience of the leader of the “DPR” Denys Pushylin regarding the appropriation of houses and apartments of local residents. 300,000 residents of the Donetsk region had their homes taken away from their property by a secret decree, and people found out about it later and by accident. Balytsky, on the other hand, robs more “systematically”, hedging himself with pieces of paper and creating new structures. And the fact that all this is outside the legal field of Ukraine, of course, does not concern the Gauleiter: the looting is going on here and now, while part of the region is under occupation.

Recently, it became known that Balytsky created a new structure to speed up the appropriation of real estate by Ukrainians – the “Directorate of Property of the Zaporizhia Region”. This “state enterprise of the Russian Federation” is actually tasked with expropriating apartments, houses, garages, land and cars, as well as putting this property up for auction or handing it over to the right hands for free.

Igor Bazarny, who came to Melitopol from the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation (registered in the city of Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula), was appointed the head of the “state-owned enterprise”.

There is information that he previously served in the Russian military unit 45655, then had a relationship with the Federal Security Service (his phone number is signed as “Ihor FSB Severomorsk”), he also has a criminal record.

On the territory of Ukraine, Bazarny had already managed to shine in the ranks of the “people’s militia” of Melitopol, at the illegal “elections of deputies of the Energodar City Council of the first convocation” from the LDPR, then he was an ordinary employee of the “Ministry of Property and Land Relations of the Zaporizhzhia Region.”

Currently, employees of this newly created “property directorate” are conducting raids in the occupied Melitopol, which must solve the issue of confiscation of real estate from the rightful owners on the spot.

Members of the visiting commissions require local residents to fill out papers, attach copies of passports (only Russian) and documents establishing ownership of housing. But this is not a guarantee that he will not be selected – the decision is made by the members of the commission after “analysis of all information”.

Most of the houses and apartments “nationalized” by the occupation authorities belong to Ukrainians who left the region because of the war.

“The Russians say: come back, show the documents for housing – and everything will be fine, but they also don’t let you do it. Besides, most Ukrainians have no intention of getting Russian citizenship,” shared our interlocutor in an enthusiastic Melitopol.

According to him, people have three months to somehow save their housing after it is published in the list of nationalized property.” “To save” usually means to sell.

But not everyone manages to come home. You can get there only through Russia, and the filtering procedure at Sheremetyevo airport can take several days.

“There are many refusals to enter at the decision of FSB employees,” says the interlocutor.

So the occupation authorities can do whatever they want with the housing of Ukrainians. And she is not going to miss this chance.
