Among them are 75 boys and 47 girls.
Russia has been violating the rights of Ukrainian children for more than 10 years. Deportation, forced displacement, which is covered by the word “evacuation”, is still the hallmark of the Russian Federation in relation to our children. This was reported by the Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
It is the only country that is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, which is included in such a list of shame, which is annually presented by the UN Secretary General at the Security Council meeting. Despite this, the Russian Federation has not yet provided the UN with an appropriate action plan to minimize the suffering of children, apparently because it does not intend to reduce it. In the report of the Secretary General of the UN Security Council on children and armed conflicts, which covers the period from January to December 2023, there is confirmation of the abduction of 122 children (75 boys and 47 girls). Since 2022, these actions have continued to be carried out by the Russian armed forces, as well as by the Russian authorities, which de facto exercise control over the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
The UN report confirmed the transfer or deportation of 33 children in the temporarily controlled or occupied territories of Ukraine, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, to the Russian Federation. In addition, the document records 60 cases of denial of humanitarian access attributed to the Russian Federation.
Russia has also simplified the procedure for applying for Russian citizenship for orphans and children left without parental care.
Russia was urged not to make any changes to the personal data of Ukrainian children and to provide access to representatives of structures dealing with child protection issues to facilitate reunification. The world should more decisively put pressure on the Russian Federation so that children have the opportunity to live in their native land and do not become hostages, and later soldiers of the Russian army.
