The Russians caused almost 16 billion hryvnias of damage to the nature of the Zaporizhzhia region

Experts continue to calculate the damage from Russian aggression. As of June of this year, the ecology of the Zaporizhzhia region suffered losses of almost 16 billion hryvnias.

This is reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the Southern District.

Representatives of the environmental inspection are counting the losses caused by soil contamination with fragments of rockets and projectiles. The total amount of such losses in the Zaporizhia region as of the beginning of June 2024 is 15 billion 692 million 550 thousand UAH.

All materials related to settlements have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for investigation as part of criminal proceedings.

Environmentalists made an approximate calculation of the damage to the environment after the Russian shelling of the Dniprovskaya HPP. The damage due to soil and soil contamination is almost 168 million.

In the soil samples, an excess of cadmium, nickel and lead was found, which can enter the groundwater and the Dnipro River due to rains.
