Eight civilians were wounded in Donetsk region as a result of Russian attacks

Eight civilians were injured in Donetsk region as a result of Russian attacks on August 22, and an investigation has been launched based on these facts. This is reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office, pre-trial investigations were started in criminal proceedings on the facts of violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on August 22, 2024, Russian troops shelled the Kramatorsk, Pokrovsky and Bakhmut districts. The Russians carried out an airstrike, probably using the “KAB-250”, on the village. Pleshchiivka of the Illiniv village council. The Russians targeted the private sector, where a couple – a 66-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, as well as their 85-year-old neighbor – were unblocked from under the rubble of two buildings. The victims were taken to the hospital with head injuries, broken ribs, and bruises. A 47-year-old civilian was wounded in another house.

In addition, as a result of the artillery attack on the town of Kostiantynivka, two women, 49 and 31 years old, who were on the street, received leg and chest injuries.

The Russians also fired artillery at the residential sector of Toretska, where a 70-year-old woman was wounded in the thigh. A 65-year-old civilian was injured during shelling in the city of Novogrodivka.

Residential households, commercial establishments, power lines, and cars were damaged in populated areas.
