From September 9 to 15, the Sumy district continued to be under constant fire from the Russian Federation. The Russians carried out 504 attacks on populated areas using various types of weapons. In particular, aviation was involved – 2 missile strikes were carried out and 96 guided aerial bombs were released. Due to intense shelling, four civilians were injured.
“From September 9 to 15, nine out of sixteen communities in the Sumy district were attacked by the Russian army: Bilopolska, Krasnopilska, Lebedynska, Myropilska, Mykolaivska, Rychkivska, Sumy, Khotinska, and Yunakivska. The communities of Bilopolska and Krasnopilska were especially affected. 56 guided aerial bombs were released on the Bilopol community, which caused significant destruction to the infrastructure and residential buildings. The Krasnopil community once again became the epicenter of the most intense shelling – 327 attacks using artillery, mortars, and drones were recorded there. The shelling continued both during the day and at night, which created a constant danger for the civilian population,” commented the head of the Sumy District Council Gennadiy Demyanenko.
He added: “On the night of September 16-17, the Russian army massively attacked the city of Sumy with Shaheds, in particular the energy infrastructure. The consequences are currently being eliminated. Air defense forces shot down 16 drones over the territory of our region – respect and gratitude to the military for quality work. As of now, the Russians continue to attack the infrastructure of Sumy with ballistics. Stay in shelters!”
