In total, there are 706 libraries in the Kharkiv region, but since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 116 institutions have been damaged or destroyed by Russian shelling, which is more than 16%.
Such statistics were provided by the regional military administration.
It is noted that as of September 30, 86 libraries were damaged by Russian shelling, and 26 were completely destroyed.
At the same time, only 4 were restored.
One of the restored libraries was the facility in Izyum, where a renovated children’s library was opened on August 19. The first in the de-occupied territories of the Kharkiv region.
In June, as a result of Russian shelling, the Kharkiv Library of the Kholodnohirsky district was flooded, as a result of which 1,000 books were under water and need to be replaced.
