“There is one dead person. This is a 45-year-old resident of Ternopil. There are also 4 residents of this building who are injured. One person, namely the wife of the deceased, is seriously injured. She received severe burns,” said the head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration.
According to him, 94 people were evacuated from the damaged building. Currently, the condition of this housing and its suitability for further residence and the return of people are being assessed.
The blast wave damaged the windows of neighboring buildings, a school, and 20 cars.
Psychologists are working at the scene and a mobile invulnerability center has been deployed for the victims.
The extent of the destruction:
33 apartments in this building were damaged, with windows broken. A nearby school was damaged – 57 window panes were destroyed. Two more apartments in a neighboring building were damaged by debris. 20 cars parked nearby were damaged.
Thanks to prompt action, the fire was extinguished at 02:28. 13 pieces of equipment and 45 rescuers from the State Emergency Service were involved in the work.
