In 2024, the Russians recruited almost 10 thousand residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine into their army.
This is stated in the report of the Center of National Resistance.
It is noted that the Russians attract potential contract soldiers with payments.
“In the period from the beginning of January to the beginning of November 2024, 9.6 thousand residents of the occupied regions of Ukraine signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for military service, which is about 93% of the target figure set by the occupiers of 10.4 thousand people for 2024,” the report says.
The rate of recruitment of Ukrainians into the Russian army is quite high.
“In annual terms, the highest rates of population involvement in contract service are recorded in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia (over 330 people were involved, about 135% of the target), Kherson (over 260 people, about 105% of the target) and Donetsk (over 3,150 people, about 105%) regions, which have already exceeded the plan set by the occupiers,” the report states.
According to the Center of National Resistance, the lowest percentage of implementation of the occupiers’ plan to involve Ukrainians in their ranks is in Crimea (slightly more than 80%).
The report indicates that the involvement of the population in the territories under Russian occupation in military contract service in the Russian Armed Forces is facilitated by the difficult financial situation and high unemployment among residents of the occupied regions (primarily the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions), the aggressive information and propaganda campaign of the Russian Federation, as well as Russian state policy aimed at constantly increasing financial payments and the level of social protection for participants in the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and their family members.
