A photo of a Ukrainian soldier with his head severed was spread on the network from Russian information resources. Previously, his identity was established and law enforcement officials were informed.
This was reported by the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, Artur Dobroserdov.
Information was also transferred to the National Police of Ukraine to establish contact with the soldier’s relatives and conduct investigative actions to clarify the circumstances, whereabouts of the body and other details.
The Prosecutor General’s Office was also informed about another gross violation of international humanitarian law by Russia.
On January 23, a video appeared on the network that recorded another crime by Russian soldiers against unarmed Ukrainian prisoners of war.
These frames show Russian soldiers shooting six Ukrainian soldiers who were captured in the back. The video cuts off at the moment when the seventh prisoner is on the ground. According to the ombudsman, his further fate remains unknown.
“The execution of each of the prisoners takes place in front of the other comrades. At the same time, the Russians order them to “lie down and shut up,” and the “operator” of the crime says “One is mine,” and later he is seen firing a series of bullets into the back of one of the prisoners of war,” Lubinets writes.
The ombudsman stressed that he had once again sent information about the war crime to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
“In order to ensure the inevitability of the Russian Federation’s responsibility, each war crime is carefully documented, and the relevant information is transmitted to international legal institutions,” Dobroserdov summarized.
