Russia launches ballistic missile strike on center of Izyum: there are dead and many injured

On February 4, Russian troops launched a ballistic missile strike on Izyum in the Kharkiv region, killing five people. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov.

As of 2:00 p.m., search and rescue operations in Izyum were completed. This was reported by the State Emergency Service.

According to rescuers, the number of victims of the Russian missile strike has increased to 38 people, including 3 children. 5 people died.

A little later, Synegubov summarized that more than 40 people sought medical help due to the strike.

“24 people were hospitalized, three of them in serious condition. Among the injured is a 6-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. Their condition is average,” he specified.

The head of the regional military administration notes that 170 apartments were damaged as a result of the shelling – windows were broken. Now, windows and doors are being “sewn up” urgently, and apartments and houses are being bypassed. Specialized services have begun to eliminate the consequences.

Updated 13.20. According to him, the number of dead has increased to five – rescuers have unblocked another body. The number of injured as a result of the shelling has also increased to 38.

“An enemy strike on Izyum. According to preliminary data, the Russians used a ballistic missile. Four people have died. At this moment, 17 people are wounded, five of them are hospitalized in a medical facility,” he noted.

According to the head of the regional military administration, all emergency services are working on the scene at once.

Later, Sinegubov added that the Russians struck the central part of the city, and the number of injured has increased to 20 people.

“One more person is under the rubble. The elimination of the consequences is ongoing. Administrative buildings were partially destroyed, a five-story residential building was damaged,” he wrote.

Later, Sinegubov provided details:

“The Russians hit an administrative building. Another administrative building nearby was damaged, as well as multi-story residential buildings. There are no military facilities in this place.”

According to him, 24 people were hospitalized in Izyum: among them – a 15-year-old girl, who received a shrapnel wound, her condition is moderate.

As reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, part of the city council building in Izyum was destroyed as a result of a rocket attack.

“A rescue operation is underway after a Russian missile strike on the city. Part of the city council building was destroyed as a result of this strike. As of now, it is known that there are victims – 20 people were injured. Unfortunately, five people died. My condolences to the family and friends. It is impossible to reconcile with this cruelty. We need to put pressure on Russia, apply as much force as possible – the force of arms, the force of sanctions, the force of diplomacy – to stop terror and protect life,” the president said.
