The head of the regional military administration called on the city authorities of Seredyna-Buda and the Shostka regional military administration to strengthen explanations about the dangers of living in the 5-km zone
The head of the Sumy regional military administration noted that the city of Seredyna-Buda is located directly on the border with the aggressor state and is almost daily subjected to artillery and other shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, the Sumy regional military administration reports.
From November 15, 2024, the Seredyna-Budsk urban-territorial community is included in the area of active hostilities.
Since July 2023, a mandatory evacuation has been announced in the community, and since April 2024, a mandatory forced evacuation of children with their parents has been carried out. As of today, up to 2,700 people live in Seredino-Buda, there are no children.
The community leadership reported that people do not want to evacuate.
The head of the region heard representatives of the National Police, the State Emergency Service and the military, who reported that in 2024, about 1,145 attacks on the community from various types of weapons were recorded on the territory, 8 people were killed, 64 were injured, 811 objects of various forms of ownership were damaged, of which 511 were residential buildings, the premises of the police department were destroyed, the premises of the State Emergency Service unit, the administrative premises of the city council and its structural units were damaged.
In January 2025, information was registered about 199 shelling, as a result of which 1 person died, 17 were injured and 144 objects were damaged, including 85 houses.
In 2024-2025, 11 civilian cars were destroyed and about 60 cars were damaged.
Police officers report that since the city is located almost on the border, attacks on official cars of police officers, rescuers, electricians, even “emergency vehicles” have become a kind of quest for the Russians. And enemy drones attack civilians both day and night.
“People must evacuate from Seredino-Buda to save their lives and the lives of their families,” the head of the Sumy regional military administration emphasized. – And the community leadership must talk to them about this, offer options. Moreover, today IDPs and border communities are actively helped by neighboring communities, rear regions of Ukraine within the framework of the project “Side by Side. United Communities”, international partners. We have specific addresses of houses in the rear, where civilians can safely settle.” The head of the Sumy regional military administration instructed the community leadership, district military administrations and structural units of the regional military administration to develop a detailed plan with specific deadlines for assisting residents of the city of Seredino-Buda – both in the humanitarian and security component. The main part of the plan is informing the population and measures for evacuation to safer settlements in the region.
