Russia struck a film studio in Odessa: scenery for a new film was destroyed

One of the targets of a massive strike on Odessa on the night of June 10 was the Odesa film studio. As a result of the attack, production facilities, warehouses of costumes and props were damaged, and part of the historical scenery was destroyed.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the film studio.

The scenery for the national film “Dovzhenko”, dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian director, was completely destroyed.

The vehicles used for technical maintenance of the filming process were also partially damaged.

The fire was extinguished thanks to the prompt actions of the security forces, and most of the unique artifacts were saved. Fortunately, there were no casualties among the workers. However, one of the studio employees lost his house that night.

The damage to the studio is yet another evidence that Russia is deliberately attacking Ukrainian cultural institutions. The attack on an object that is part of the national cinematic heritage has caused outrage among the cultural community,” the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the studio said.
