The Russian army hit Sumy on June 16. A drone, probably a Molniya type, exploded on the city’s central street. It damaged windows, cars, and a restaurant.
Local resident Vasyl Kovalenko showed the broken balcony windows in his own home. The man lives on the third floor of a multi-story building on Kharkivska Street. He says the explosion occurred on the night of June 16.
“Somewhere around half past one in the morning. I was sleeping, a woman screamed that something had happened, glass was falling. When I went out onto the balcony, the frame, glass flew out, and everything,” Vasyl Kovalenko said.
The neighbors’ windows were also damaged, Vasyl says. “There was an explosion at night. Windows were falling out – that’s all. I don’t know anything else,” Mr. Serhiy said.
“The balcony windows and the windows in the room were damaged. On that side. It was very audible,” added Mr. Viktor.
The pedestrian path at the site of the Russian drone hit is littered with branches and glass.
“This is the first time in four years that this has happened to us, although it was also nearby, in the fourth house, on that side, but we have never had this before,” admitted Vasyl Kovalenko.
Next to the high-rise building, windows were also broken in a catering establishment. The damage caused by the Russian strike is being calculated. According to Deputy Mayor Stanislav Polyakov, fifty balcony frames were broken. As Acting Mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar reported, two hits were recorded in the city.
