In Donetsk region, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion – since February 24, 2022 – the Russians have damaged and destroyed over 80 museums and libraries, as well as over 30 historical monuments and objects protected by the state.
This was reported by the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Vadym Filashkin.
“In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Donetsk region, the following have been damaged and destroyed by shelling from the Russian Federation: museums and libraries – 81; 1,251 buildings of educational and research institutions; 169 sports facilities; 46 buildings for religious and cult activities and 33 historical monuments and objects protected by the state,” the head of the region said.
In the Donetsk region, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, historical monuments were lost: in the city of Bakhmut, which was completely destroyed by Russian troops, the historical buildings of the Transport College, the Azov-Don Bank and the Palace of Culture named after E. Martynov were destroyed; in Svyatohirsk, the Wooden All-Holy Hermitage of the Holy Assumption Svyatohirsk Lavra burned down, and in the village of Bogorodichne, another Hermitage of the Svyatohirsk Lavra burned down from enemy fire, etc.
