As a result of a Russian strike in Chernihiv region, two employees of the Danish Refugee Council, which is engaged in humanitarian projects in Ukraine, were killed.
This was reported by the head of the Chernihiv regional military administration, Vyacheslav Chaus.
According to Chaus, Russia struck an area near Chernihiv where representatives of the Danish Refugee Council were carrying out a humanitarian demining mission.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, commenting on the Russian strike, said that it “first of all shows cruelty on the part of Russia. This is about the activities of an NGO, and if it was a deliberate act, then it is even more serious, but it is serious, and now my thoughts are with the victims – those who were affected and their loved ones.”
The Danish Refugee Council has several teams of sappers in Ukraine, which are engaged in demining in northeastern Ukraine.
In July, a massive Russian attack in Kyiv destroyed a warehouse of the Lithuanian humanitarian aid organization “Blue/Yellow”.
The same month, a field base of the Norwegian People’s Aid, a humanitarian organization that helps with demining in Ukraine, was hit in Mykolaiv.
