Security situation in Sumy region

As of the morning of September 21, the situation in Sumy region remains tense. Russian troops continue to carry out massive shelling of border areas daily.

During the morning of September 20 to the morning of September 21, 69 shellings were recorded on 26 settlements in 16 communities. The Sumy and Shostka districts suffered the most fire strikes.

The settlements of Sumy, Khotyn, Yunakiv, Mykolaiv rural, Krasnopil, Bilopol, Vorozhbyan, Richkiv, Myropil, Lebedyn, Seredino-Bud, Shalygin, Esman, Glukhiv, Putyvl and Velykypysariv communities were under Russian fire.

The Russians carried out most of the attacks with guided aerial bombs and drones: up to 40 strikes with guided aerial bombs, up to 10 strikes with UAVs, and also used FPV drones, MLRS and dropped explosives from drones.

There are casualties among civilians as a result of the shelling. In particular, a 62-year-old man was injured in the Sumy community.

Russian actions damaged civilian and road infrastructure facilities, private households: in Sumy community – non-residential buildings and other facilities, in Vorozhbyanska – road infrastructure and a private house, in Velykopysarivska – private households, in Rychkivska – non-residential buildings.

During the day, measures to evacuate the population from the border areas continued. With the help of local authorities, the State Emergency Service, the National Police and public organizations, one more person was evacuated.

In total, the air alert sounded for 16 hours and 12 minutes in Sumy region during the day, which once again indicates the high intensity of attacks.
