Russian troops continue to strike at Ukraine’s transport infrastructure, trying to disrupt rail communication with front-line territories, in particular Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
This was reported by the head of the board of the joint-stock company “Ukrzaliznytsia” Oleksandr Pertsovsky.
According to him, the Russians are purposefully attacking key routes in order to block the main and backup directions of communication.
“Passengers of trains that were heading to Sumy, Konotop, Shostka and other cities in the region are currently at a safe distance from the places of damage – they are being delivered to their destinations by bus transfers,” Pertsovskyі noted.
He also emphasized that Ukrzaliznytsia is working together with the Sumy and Chernihiv regional military administrations, as well as with the chairmans of Konotop, Shostka and Nizhyn to quickly organize transportation.
Konotop chairman Artem Semenikhin clarified that the Russian drone hit a locomotive next to a passenger train. People managed to evacuate.
“People managed to be taken out. The hit was on a locomotive next to the passenger train. They hit it with a shaheed,” the Konotop chairman noted.
