$100 million pharmaceutical warehouse destroyed: Russia targets Opti-Pharm

The Russian attack on Kyiv on October 25 completely destroyed the office and warehouse complex of pharmaceutical distributor Optima-Pharm, causing damage of more than $100 million. The company, which is the second largest in Ukraine, lost one of its key logistics centers, which ensured the supply of medicines to the central regions of the country.

The warehouse was completely destroyed. The logistics center ensured the supply of medicines to the central regions of the country, playing a key role in providing hospitals, pharmacy chains and humanitarian supplies.

The company confirmed the fact of destruction and noted that the scale of the damage is indeed approaching one hundred million dollars. According to the contractor Volantis, the warehouse area was about 29 thousand square meters.

The fire that broke out after the missile hit engulfed a significant part of the building. Dozens of pieces of equipment and even a helicopter were involved in extinguishing the fire, the State Emergency Service reported. However, even on the morning of October 26, rescuers continued to work at the scene of the tragedy, as the fire was difficult to localize due to the scale of the destruction and the presence of pharmaceutical products that burn at high temperatures.

It is noted that this is the second attack on Optima-Pharm warehouses in 2025. On August 28, a Russian missile had already hit the company’s pharmaceutical facility in Kyiv, then it was possible to partially restore work, but the current hit practically destroyed the entire infrastructure.

“Optima-Pharm” is a Ukrainian-Estonian enterprise that has been operating in the pharmaceutical distribution market for over 30 years. The company has 11 branches and 12 pharmacy warehouses throughout Ukraine, ensuring stable supplies of medicines to pharmacies, hospitals and charitable foundations. It ranks second after the BaDM group among the country’s pharmaceutical distributors, controlling over 30% of the market.

The destruction of the warehouse was a painful blow not only to the company itself, but also to the entire drug supply system in Ukraine. After all, it was Optima-Pharm that provided a significant part of the country’s medical institutions with vital drugs, including during the war.
