Russian artillery shelled a children’s hospital in Kherson

On the morning of October 29, the Russians shelled Kherson. People, including a child, were injured in the attack on a civilian facility.

This was reported by the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanka.

The Russians cynically attacked civilian residents of Kherson from the temporarily occupied left bank of the region at around 09:20. A children’s hospital in the Dnipro district was hit.

A total of 9 people were injured in the artillery attack, including three medical workers and four children. The condition of the women, aged 56 and 66, is moderately serious, they received mine-explosive injuries and shrapnel wounds. A 41-year-old man was diagnosed with a mine-explosive injury, shrapnel wounds to the head and chest. A 9-year-old girl received a mine-explosive injury and a leg wound. The people were provided with medical assistance.

The head of the Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, noted that another woman and a child were injured in the attack. A 36-year-old woman and a 15-year-old teenager received mine-explosive injuries and contusions.

The Kherson district prosecutor’s office has launched a pre-trial investigation into a war crime. During the attack on the hospital, young patients, their parents, and medical staff were there. The blast wave seriously damaged the hospital building, and neighboring buildings were also damaged.

Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets noted that the strike on Kherson is another war crime by Russia, which grossly violates international humanitarian law.

On the morning of October 29, the Russians shelled Kherson at least three times.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the Russians could not have not known where they were hitting. The Russians targeted the strike on medical staff and children.

The hospital is significantly damaged, and, unfortunately, there are casualties among the staff and children who were being treated. The youngest injured child is eight years old, the boy himself, his mother and brother were also injured. At the time of this strike, about a hundred people were in the hospital, and Russia is not even ashamed to consider such objects as a target, – the President of Ukraine said.
