In Chernihiv region, the Lyzohub family estate was damaged by Russian shelling

In the city of Sedniv in Chernihiv region, as a result of a Russian strike carried out around midnight on November 19, the Lyzohub family estate – a branch of the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after Vasyl Tarnovsky – was damaged.

This was reported by the Department of Culture of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.

It is noted that the estate was destroyed by a blast wave as a result of the Russian strike.

11 windows and an outbuilding were damaged in the premises. The Department notes that specialists will inspect the premises to establish the full extent of the damage and determine what restoration work is needed. There are no injuries among the employees.

As reported, the Lyzohub estate is a historical monument of national importance, associated with one of the most famous elders’ families of Left-Bank Ukraine.

“Its damage is another evidence of Russia’s targeted attempts to erase our historical memory, to destroy the cultural layer that forms the Ukrainian identity,” the Department added.

This is not the first time that the Sedniv estate has suffered from Russian aggression. Thus, in 2022, it was under occupation, when not only unique cultural heritage sites, but also people’s lives were under threat.
