Russian troops attacked a thermal power plant near Kharkiv: one person died, 13 were injured

A person died and 13 were injured as a result of a strike on a thermal power plant in the Kharkiv region on December 24.

This was reported by the chairman Igor Terekhov.

“The Russians launched a series of targeted strikes on a thermal power plant in the nearest suburb of Kharkiv. This led to a significant drop in voltage in the city, which directly affected the heat supply and the operation of public transport. Unfortunately, one person died. There are injured,” the post says.

The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov, reported that one person died as a result of missile strikes on the suburbs of Kharkiv. Another 11 people were injured to varying degrees.

The injured have been hospitalized, and all are receiving highly qualified medical care, the head of the regional military administration added.

“As of now, a total of 13 injured and one deceased are known. All the injured have been hospitalized,” Sinegubov later reported.

All relevant services are currently conducting fault finding and determining the real scale of the destruction, Terekhov noted. “Wherever it is technically possible, we are forced to switch to the “energy island” mode to reduce the consequences for Kharkiv residents,” Terekhov informed.

As the chairman noted, damage to the power system has also temporarily complicated the operation of electric transport in the Rohany, Novaya Bavaria and Kholodnaya Hora districts.

“Transport workers are already working to stabilize the situation. Metro traffic has been restored. Emergency shutdown schedules have been introduced from KharkivOblenergo. I ask you to treat the situation with understanding. It is important to trust specialists who perform their work in extremely difficult conditions,” Terekhov wrote.

The Kharkiv region police said that the deceased man was 51 years old. As a result of injuries, he died on the spot.

“Investigators, forensic experts and explosives technicians are seizing evidence of armed aggression. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Article 438 (war crimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the regional administration noted.

Spokesperson for the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Anna Gontar told reporters that, according to preliminary data, all the wounded are in moderate condition. All of them are civilians, there are no rescuers among them. Whether they are all employees of the CHP is being clarified.

On the morning of December 24, Russian troops struck the suburbs of Kharkiv. The metro stopped for half an hour. Emergency power outages occurred in the city and region.
