For Volyn region, the new year began with a massive attack by Russia. The Russians sent strike drones to Kovel and Lutsk.
This was reported by the chairman Igor Polishchuk. He wrote that a number of drones flew to Lutsk. At some point, most of the UAVs available in the region were moving towards Kovel.
“Kovel in Volyn became the first city to be subjected to a massive attack in 2026. The city was immediately attacked by dozens of Russian drones, and hits on energy infrastructure were recorded,” monitoring channels reported.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also informed about the threat of drones. The drones were moving from the direction of Rivne region.
“Volyn: UAVs heading for Lutsk, Kovel from the northeast. Attention! Lutsk! Stay in cover! UAVs heading for the city from the east,” they warned.
A fire broke out in Lutsk due to Russian strikes.
“Here’s a fire on New Year’s Eve in our native Lutsk instead of holiday lights,” Polishchuk wrote.
