Three killed in massive Russian attack on Odesa

The number of victims of the night attack on Odesa has increased to three after bodies were discovered under the rubble of destroyed buildings in the Peresypsky district.

This was reported by the head of the Odesa city military administration, Serhiy Lysak.

Rescuers during search operations on Balkivska Street discovered the body of a man, according to preliminary data, of elderly age. The head of the Odesa city military administration, Serhiy Lysak, also reported the unblocking of the body of another man during the dismantling of the rubble on Prokhorovska Street. The head of the regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, later confirmed that the total number of dead had increased to three after the body of a woman born in 1974 was found. Russia is counting on intimidation of the civilian population through constant strikes on residential areas of the city, but rescue services continue to work at the sites of hits in an intensified mode.

The Russian Federation is targeting densely populated areas of Odesa, injuring at least 22 people in the latest massive attack. While Russia is trying to pass off the shelling of civilian infrastructure as strikes on military targets, footage from the sites of destruction on Balkivska and Prokhorovska streets shows another act of terror against ordinary citizens. The Russian Federation is trying to sow panic and force residents to leave the city, but emergency assistance to the victims and the elimination of the consequences of the explosions continue uninterruptedly under the coordination of local authorities.

Search and rescue operations at the site of the destruction are ongoing, as people may still be trapped under the rubble.

Earlier, rescuers in Odesa pulled the body of a second deceased person — a man — from the ruins while clearing rubble on Prokhorovska Street in the Peresypsky district. This tragedy occurred as a result of a massive attack by Russian drones that hit the city on the night of January 27.
