Hungarian Foreign Ministry summons Ukrainian ambassador over Hungarian mobilization

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has summoned the Ukrainian ambassador over the “violent hunt” for Hungarians for mobilization.

Szijjarto called the war in Ukraine hopeless and senseless.

“Brussels is investing countless funds in this absolutely hopeless and senseless war, and they want to take even more money from Europeans to continue this senseless and hopeless war, which brings new deaths, new suffering and new hunting for people every day. In Ukraine, an open hunt for people is taking place on the streets to support the war,” the Hungarian minister said.

He gave examples of such “hunting”, when, according to him, a man from Berehove, who also has Hungarian citizenship, was mobilized, “who was taken away by violent manhunters sent from Odessa, despite the fact that he had an official exemption from conscription.”

“Another young man of Hungarian nationality, who had mental problems, was also kidnapped, and he has already disappeared. Therefore, today we summoned the Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express our protest against the ongoing violent conscription and the open hunting of people on the streets,” Szijjarto said.

“This war is absolutely hopeless. This war must be ended immediately. This war brings new victims and suffering every day. It makes no sense,” he stressed.
