Orban sees “connection” between events in Iran and Druzhba oil pipeline

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, commenting on the US military operation in Iran, appealed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyі to restore oil supplies through the Druzhba oil pipeline.

In his post on the social network X, he explained that against the backdrop of recent events in the Middle East, oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline are becoming even more important.

“The war with Iran has doubled the importance of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Once again, I call on President Volodymyr Zelenskyі to immediately restore oil supplies to Hungary,” he noted.

Orban announced on February 27 his intention to send a team of experts to Ukraine, together with Slovakia, to assess the condition of the Druzhba oil pipeline. He said that he had agreed with his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico, to create a joint “investigative commission to clarify the condition of the Druzhba oil pipeline.”
