Viktor Orban announces Anti-Ukrainian protests in Hungary

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has reacted sharply to Ukraine’s actions and stated that Budapest will not give in to “Ukrainian blackmail.”

In a video message published on March 14, 2026, Orban said:

Let’s stand together against Ukrainian blackmail. Hungary will not be a Ukrainian colony, Zelensky is not in charge here!”

He also announced a mass “Peace March” to be held on March 15, and called on all Hungarians to participate in it:

March 15 is the Peace March. I ask everyone to join us. The time has come to resist Ukrainian blackmail.”

Orban’s statement is related to the ongoing conflict over the Druzhba oil pipeline. Hungary accuses Ukraine of blocking Russian oil supplies for 19 days, which Budapest says is putting pressure on Hungary.

Orban positions his speech as a defense of Hungary’s sovereignty and a call not to allow “Zelenskyі to give orders” on Hungarian territory.

This is not the first sharp statement by Orban regarding Ukraine in recent months. The march on March 15 in Budapest is expected to be large – the country’s authorities traditionally use such actions to demonstrate support for their policies.
