The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a large-scale information special operation by Russia against the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia

The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a new information and psychological special operation by Russian special services aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Transcarpathian region and increasing tensions between Ukraine and Hungary.

As a result of comprehensive measures, it was established that the Russians are using the so-called number spoofing technology via IP telephony to conduct the information and psychological special operation. In particular, from supposedly Ukrainian phone numbers, the enemy is making “anonymous” calls with threats to representatives of the Hungarian national community.

During the conversations, unknown persons, pretending to be members of “national-patriotic formations” and even employees of our state’s law enforcement agencies, demanded that representatives of the community leave the territory of Ukraine, threatened them with physical violence, etc.

As a result of the technical measures taken, it was established that the calls were made from the territory of the Russian Federation.

The Security Service of Ukraine is currently working to block the specified information and psychological special operation.

The Security Service of Ukraine calls on citizens not to succumb to such provocations. In case of receiving threats or suspicious messages, we ask you to immediately inform law enforcement agencies.
