Why Orban’s new policy on Ukraine is treason for Hungary

For years, the Hungarian state media has been spreading hatred and fear of everything related to Ukraine. But now, before our eyes, all these actions are going into turbo mode.

Moreover, the Kremlin has sent a team of “political technologists” to Budapest to manipulate (vote-buying networks, troll farms, etc.) the upcoming elections.

Hungarian journalist László Szeres is shocked by Viktor Orban’s election campaign.

What the Hungarian government is doing is precisely treason.

Russian military intelligence agents arrived in Hungary to help Viktor Orban’s government to “spin” social media algorithms from the walls of the Russian embassy.

The country has announced an increase in the level of the terrorist threat, and the TEK anti-terrorist special unit has robbed Ukrainian collectors.

One of the key ministers from the Orban government’s inner circle, Janos Lazar, openly says that the confiscated money will not be returned to Ukraine until Kyiv reopens the Druzhba oil pipeline, which was bombed by the Russians.

For some reason, Hungary does not complain about the Russians.

It seems obvious even to a non-lawyer that we are seeing robbery, embezzlement, threats committed within the framework of professional activities, violations of personal freedom, coercion, persecution, blackmail. According to Ukrainians, what happened indicates a “gross violation of the European Convention on Human Rights and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.”

The Hungarian government’s actions, of course, violate the law “On the Protection of National Sovereignty”, according to which “the sovereignty of Hungary is violated – which at the same time poses a serious threat to national security – if political power passes into the hands of such persons and organizations that are dependent on any foreign government, organization or person”.

An employee of the pro-government Mathias Corvinus Collegium, a researcher of Russia, Zalan Alkoini, described in 9 points the scheme of Russia’s unprecedented interference in the internal affairs of Hungary for the EU – from diplomatic pressure, intelligence subversion and cyberattacks to the use of automated account networks (bot farms).

The picture becomes complete and holistic if we recall the statement of the Kremlin’s master Vladimir Putin that the Russian Federation “has always been and remains a reliable energy supplier”, but this will be the case only if “the leadership of these countries pursues the same policy as today”.

The Hungarian state media has been spreading hatred and fear of everything related to Ukraine for years, and now they have switched to turbo mode.

Here is the headline of one of the key media outlets of the ruling party, the Mandiner publication: “Ukrainian militants may seize Budapest – Zelensky’s terrifying plan has been leaked.”

What is the source of such “information”? This is the well-known pro-Russian propagandist Diana Panchenko, who “believes that the Ukrainian government is training militants to then send them to Hungary and use them at rallies.” We are preparing ourselves to see such “news” twice a week from now on.

Perhaps now, a month before the elections, the opposition in Hungary is somewhat ahead in the ratings.

But three weeks is still a very long time.

A “Ukrainian” provocation can be staged at any moment, especially when they are ready to do anything for the sake of victory. Moreover, the damage has already been done.

Laszlo Szeresa added: we can be grateful to Viktor Orban for the fact that with his anomalous and inhuman election campaign, as well as his highlighted connections with the Kremlin, he is demonstrating to all of us what is at stake during these parliamentary elections.

What kind of person can someone be who, for years – in the interests of the Kremlin – has been beating a country that is subjected to daily Russian bombing? There are three things that Orban himself once formulated: “Nothing will be forgotten. Everything will be recorded. Everything will be settled.”
