
On April 4, Sumy region was subjected to an unprecedented intensity of attack by Russian troops.
The Russians carried out more than 60 shellings, 35 settlements in 18 territorial communities were hit, which led to mass injuries among the civilian population and large-scale destruction.
According to official data from the Sumy regional military administration, the greatest tragedy occurred in the regional center.
As a result of a night attack by a Russian drone in the Sumy community, 19 children were injured, the youngest of whom was only two years old.
In addition, 10 adult residents of the city received injuries of varying severity, including a 92-year-old man.
The geography of Russian strikes covered almost the entire border area. In the Popivska community, a missile strike injured two elderly women, and in the Sveska and Hlukhivska communities, Russian drones targeted cars with people.
The total number of casualties per day is estimated at dozens, and the air alert in the region lasted almost continuously for more than 23 hours.
Russia used a wide range of weapons for its attacks: from mortars and artillery to guided aerial bombs, missiles and FPV drones.
The largest number of hits was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts, where the Russians purposefully destroyed residential buildings, administrative buildings and critical infrastructure.
