The Russian administration, together with Rosrybolovstvo, is preparing a large-scale catch of jellyfish in the waters of the Sea of Azov. Although the Russians are covering themselves up with concern for tourists, the Center of National Resistance explains that the real goal is to make money on the industrial exploitation of the resource.
Environmentalists warn that such interference in nature will lead to problems. Jellyfish regulate the level of plankton, and if they are removed en masse, the water will begin to bloom uncontrollably.
This will cause a shortage of oxygen, which will cause fish to die, and the sea itself may turn into a “dead zone”. Instead of preserving nature, the occupation authorities are choosing the path of resource depletion, which threatens the water area with complete degradation.
Meanwhile, the situation in the temporarily occupied territories itself remains critical. While the Russians are planning fishing projects, the residents of Donetsk or Alchevsk continue to survive without a stable water supply and heat.
Municipal networks are destroyed, and instead of repairing basic communications, the Russians are focusing on dubious initiatives. Such actions only add to the region’s new environmental and humanitarian woes.
