Russia is organizing artificial protests in Cyprus
The Kremlin is organizing artificial pro-Russian actions in Cyprus in order to provoke a split in the European Union.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council.
“Russia is trying to organize artificial protests in Cyprus, directed against EU policy, the decision to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros, as well as to discredit the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі,” the Center for Countering Disinformation noted.
The Russian Embassy in Cyprus, structures of “Rossotrudnichestvo”, and pro-Russian public associations are involved in organizing these actions. Overall coordination is carried out by the “Russian Cultural Center”.
As explained by the Center for Countering Disinformation, such organizations, under the guise of cultural projects, purposefully promote the influence and propaganda of the Russian Federation outside the country.
It is known that the “protests” are planned to be held until April 25 under formal anti-war slogans. However, this is a typical Russian manipulation of shifting responsibility for the war to Ukraine, the EU and NATO. The main demand should be “the immediate cessation of EU funding of the war in Ukraine”.
“With such provocative actions, the Kremlin seeks to damage support for Ukraine and provoke a split in the EU. However, artificial “protests” inspired by the Kremlin are doomed to failure”, – the Center for Countering Disinformation noted.
Cyprus systematically supports Ukraine and its territorial integrity, because the principle of territorial integrity is also extremely important for it, the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized.
EU structures have been informed about the artificial nature of the actions, as well as about the people behind their organization.
