Egypt accepted a ship with stolen Ukrainian grain from occupied Mariupol

The ship ALFA 1, which took grain from temporarily occupied Mariupol, arrived at the Egyptian port of Alexandria despite Cairo’s official assurances not to accept products from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

According to monitoring resources, the ship ALFA 1 (IMO: 9045601) loaded 6,443 tons of wheat in Mariupol from April 25 to 28. After that, the bulk carrier called at the Russian port of Temryuk, where it received a new package of documents to legalize the origin of the cargo.

The exporter in the documents is the Russian company Mostagro.

Formally, the ship showed Algeria as its destination, but in fact on May 11 it entered the waters of the Egyptian port of Alexandria for mooring and possible unloading.

Earlier, the President of Egypt publicly stated that the country would not accept grain from the occupied territories of Ukraine. In addition, the Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andriy Sybiga confirmed that Cairo had repeatedly received official warnings about such supplies.

Analysts note that the scheme of “laundering” the origin of Ukrainian grain through Russian ports continues to operate, and the flow of stolen agricultural products from the temporarily occupied territories to Egypt is only growing.
