Russians sentence Melitopol resident to prison for online comment

A Russian pseudo-court has sentenced Alexey Marchenko, a resident of the temporarily occupied Melitopol, to six years in prison. He was found guilty of Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Public Justification of Terrorism Committed Using Information and Telecommunications Networks, in Particular the Internet,” according to the Russian Southern District Military Court.

According to the Russian version, in June 2023, Alexey posted a comment under a post in the Telegram-Kalan, which allegedly contains approval of the task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to launch missile strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation and its residents.

In addition, Marchenko posted a comment that allegedly contains linguistic signs of incitement to actions aimed at the destruction of Russian children.
