Night attack by “Shaheeds” on Zhytomyr region: in two communities of the region there is destruction of civilian infrastructure

On the night and morning of May 18, Zhytomyr region was under a massive attack by strike drones of the Russian army. The Russian air raid lasted for many hours in a row, as a result of which official destruction and damage to civilian infrastructure facilities were recorded in two communities of the region.

The air danger covered the entire region in waves. In the period from 00:44 to 01:10, sirens sounded in all four districts of Zhytomyr region. During the night and morning of May 18, several times in different parts of the region, they announced a ceasefire and again called on residents to take shelter due to the movement of new UAVs.

In Berdychivskyі district, the danger passed at 04:23 in the morning;

In the Korostenskyі, Zvyahelskyі and Zhytomyrskyі districts, the alert lasted almost until noon and ended only at 12:37.

Consequences of Russian hits and destruction: As representatives of local authorities in the Korostenskyі and Zvyahelskyі communities told journalists of the Public, purely civilian objects were damaged as a result of the strikes by the Russian army.

In the Korostenskyі community, the blast wave in a residential high-rise building caused glass to fly out of the windows. Currently, a special municipal commission is preparing to work at the scene, which will conduct a thorough examination and assess the exact scale of the material damage to provide further assistance to residents.

The authorities once again call on residents of the region not to ignore air alarm signals, promptly descend into bomb shelters and strictly observe information hygiene – not to post photos of air defense work or landing sites on the network to the official reports of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration.
