Over 70 cultural heritage sites in Kyiv were damaged during the shelling on May 24

As a result of the massive Russian attack on Kyiv on May 24, more than 70 cultural heritage sites and historical buildings in the capital were damaged.

This was reported by Kyiv City Council deputy Hanna Starostenko.

National Art Museum of Ukraine

Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

Main Post Office

Postal and Stagecoach Station and Church of the Nativity of Christ on Poshtova Square

Alley of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theater

Kyiv Maly Opera (Lukyanivka)

Valery Lobanovsky Stadium

Rice Market

National Center “Ukrainian House”

International Center for Culture and Arts (October Palace)

Currently, the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration, together with special commissions, is drawing up damage inspection reports. After the recording is completed, the necessary emergency work and measures to preserve the objects will be determined.

Hanna Starostenko added that specialists continue to inspect the damaged objects. The list is constantly being updated.

We will remind you that on the night of May 24, the Russians carried out a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv. Destruction and damage were recorded in all districts of the city. Shevchenkivskyi suffered the most.

As a result of the strikes, the buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Tax Service, the Kyiv School of Economics, the National Art Museum, the Main Post Office and the Chernobyl Museum were damaged, and the Kvadrat shopping mall and Lukyanivskyi market were also destroyed.
