Russia strikes important Naftogaz facility, enterprises in Khmelnytskyi and Sumy regions — consequences

Emergency services and rescuers have been eliminating the consequences of large-scale Russian strikes in several regions of Ukraine all day on June 2. Blast waves and falling debris have caused damage to residential buildings, infrastructure, and fires in Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, and Kharkiv regions.

In Sumy, Russian troops attacked the residential sector. The roof of a nine-story residential building was damaged. According to preliminary data, three people were injured. Rescuers examined the area and dismantled emergency structures from the technical floor and roof.

Nine people, including one child, were injured in the region as a result of Russian shelling over the past 24 hours. Destruction and damage to private homes, cars, and civilian infrastructure were also recorded.

Fires broke out at four locations on the territory of civilian enterprises due to an attack by Russian drones in Khmelnytskyi region. Rescuers have eliminated the consequences of the Russian shelling.

During the night attack, Russia struck one of the key facilities of Naftogaz in the Kharkiv region. The company noted that the Russian used combined tactics. First, the facility was attacked with drones, and almost an hour later, a second strike was carried out with missiles.

This is a deliberate terror tactic. In this way, the Russians are trying to cause maximum damage not only to the infrastructure, but also to the people who are rescuing, repairing and restoring,” said Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

According to him, an assessment of the consequences and restoration work will begin as soon as the security situation allows.
