Russian propaganda has been intensified in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia

Russia has intensified its propaganda campaign in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine on the eve of the Russian Language Day on June 6 and Russia Day on June 12.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, these dates are celebrated on a larger scale in the temporarily occupied territories than in the Russian Federation itself. The occupation media and representatives of the Russian authorities spread theses about the alleged “historical connection” of the occupied territories with Russia and the need to “protect the Russian language”. In particular, Russian propagandists have proposed holding a “poetry festival” in occupied Mariupol every year on June 6.

The Center for Countering Disinformation notes that in this way the Kremlin is trying to justify the war against Ukraine and integrate the population of the occupied territories into the Russian cultural space. They emphasize that Russia uses language and culture as a tool of political influence and occupation.
