On the night of June 9, Russia shelled the Shevchenkivskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones, previously of the “Geran-2” type. 11 hits were recorded. 16 people were injured, including children and a pregnant woman.
According to chairman Igor Terekhov, most of the strikes were recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. Two drones did not detonate. Six people were injured, four of them were hospitalized.
All of the hospitalized patients were women aged 28 to 62. They were diagnosed with blast injuries, bruises, fractures and cuts from glass.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, specified that among the hospitalized patients there is a pregnant woman. She was injured by glass as a result of the explosion.
Another 10 people, including three children, suffered an acute stress reaction. Medics provided them with assistance on the spot.
One of the Russian drones hit between the third and fourth floors of an apartment building, completely destroying the apartment. At that moment, Valeria, her mother, and her dog were inside.
They were hiding in the vestibule during the attack. The explosion injured the girl’s mother, and their parrot, which was in the room, died.
There was not a single surviving place in this house — the bedroom, living room, kitchen, and hallway were destroyed. The family is currently considering moving to official housing.
“The family was left with nothing. A mother and a daughter who are studying. Her father is defending Ukraine,” the chairman said.
In addition, the strike significantly damaged the structure of the apartment building. Experts are examining the building for further conclusions on the possibility of restoration.
A resident of another damaged house, Dmytro, was sitting in the kitchen at the time of the attack. His child was sleeping under a window that was blown out by the explosion.
“I sit calmly and see a toaster fly past me. I took the children and mother to the ambulance, they were given a sedative. The child was protected by a curtain. Fortunately, no one was injured,” the man shared.
The night attack caused damage to dozens of businesses. Anton, who works in a bicycle equipment store, is single-handedly eliminating the consequences of the destruction. The blast wave passed through the entire building, he noted.
Another drone hit the roof of a utility company. Two employees who were on duty were injured.
At least 27 high-rise buildings, a utility company, a church, a cafe and an office building housing the French consulate were damaged. In addition, dozens of cars burned down.
