Russian shelling damaged the Kyiv Zoo: buildings and animals were damaged

As a result of the Russian shelling of Kyiv on the night of July 2, destruction was recorded on the territory of the capital’s zoo, and some animals were injured.

During the attack, the inhabitants of the aquaterrarium – turtles and crocodiles – were injured, on whom fragments of broken glass and parts of window frames fell. The zoo’s employees, who are on duty around the clock near the enclosures, promptly provided the injured reptiles with the necessary medical assistance. All animals are currently safe, there are no deaths among the zoo’s residents.

At the same time, the blast wave and debris caused significant damage to the park’s infrastructure. In particular, the following were damaged: the buildings of the primate and bird department; the aquaterrarium and hayloft; the dome of the winter garden with exotic vegetation; the northern entrance group.

The elimination of the consequences of the shelling has already begun on the territory of KyivZoo. Due to the damage received, the northern entrance along with the parking lot are temporarily out of service.

Despite this, the zoo continues to operate as usual. Guests and residents of the capital can enter the territory through the Central Entrance.
