In Kyiv, the death toll from the Russian attack has risen to 20, search operations continue

In Kyiv, the death toll from the Russian massive combined attack has risen to 20 people.

As noted by the Kyiv State Emergency Service, work to eliminate the consequences of the massive attack is currently ongoing at seven locations.

In particular, rescuers are continuing search and rescue operations at two addresses in the Darnytskyi district at the site of the destruction of a 9-story building and private residential buildings.

According to the State Emergency Service, the shelling has already claimed the lives of 18 people and at least 85 people were injured, including two children.

Іn the capital, damage and destruction were recorded at more than 30 locations. More than 20 residential buildings were hit.

The greatest destruction was suffered by residential high-rise buildings, civil infrastructure and a medical facility.

The scale of destruction by main locations:

Darnytskyi district: a direct hit was recorded in a nine-story and a five-story building with partial destruction of the floors (from the first to the sixth). Private houses and warehouses were damaged.

Shevchenkivskyi district: a medical facility was hit, where the building was partially destroyed. 5-story and 7-story residential buildings were damaged, the roof of the historic hotel building, the market and the transformer substation were on fire.

Emergency medical service substation: the building was significantly damaged, 9 ambulances were also destroyed or damaged.

Pecherskyi district: partial destruction and fire in a 9-story residential building.

Obolonskyi district: a large-scale fire broke out in warehouse complexes.

Svyatoshynskyi district: two private residential buildings were damaged.

Holosiivskyi and Desnyanskyi districts: fires on the technical floors of multi-story buildings, as well as damage to facades and windows.

In addition, the buildings of the Kyiv Zoo were damaged by the shock wave. In particular, glass fragments and parts of window frames injured turtles and crocodiles, but no animals died.

Employees, who are on duty around the clock near the animals, immediately provided them with the necessary assistance. All animals are currently safe.

Currently, the consequences of the attack are being eliminated on the territory of KyivZoo. The northern entrance group is temporarily out of service, along with the parking lot. The rest of the territory and facilities are operating normally.

European Parliament President Roberta Metzola said on her X social media page that European Parliament staff were at a location attacked by Russian forces in Kyiv last night, but were unharmed.

“Another terrible night in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities after yesterday’s massive rocket and drone attacks from Russia…

I am relieved that European Parliament staff are safe after the location they were staying at was attacked. My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured and all those who have had to spend the night under fire again.”
