Alexander Lukashenko promised not to send Belarusian troops to the “slaughterhouse” in Ukraine

Alexander Lukashenko spoke out on July 6 about a “hybrid” war against Belarus and promised that he would not send the Belarusian army to fight in Ukraine.

Lukashenko appeared in public on the fourth day after returning from a tour of Asian countries and took part in a solemn ceremony honoring graduates of higher military educational institutions and the higher officer corps.

The Belarusian leader declared an ongoing “hybrid attack” against his country.

Economic dictate, political and information pressure are complemented by active blackmail and provocations on our southern borders. Some Western politicians are simply annoyed by our independence and self-reliance, our alliance with Russia and our commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine,” Lukashenko said.

Addressing the military and graduates, he assured that “no one will send you to this slaughterhouse”:

We do not need war. It is bad that war is going on in Ukraine. We are supporters of a peaceful settlement of the issue. But the international party of war does not want this.”

Lukashenko noted that only a country can be truly sovereign if it has a strong, well-armed and loyal army to the people and the state.
