Due to Russian shelling in Cherkasy region, 3 forest fires broke out – 2.18 hectares of forest were damaged

Russia continues to destroy Ukrainian forests. On July 30, three forest fires broke out in the territory of the forestry of the Central Forest Office branch of the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”.

In the Sofiyivsky forestry of the Korsun-Shevchenkivsky forestry district, 0.08 hectares of forest caught fire. The fire was quickly localized and extinguished by the forestry fire brigade.

Another fire occurred in the Tyasminsky forestry of the Cherkasy forestry district. Due to the fall of a Russian drone, the fire covered about 0.1 hectares of forest plantations.

The largest fire broke out in the Moshnivsky forestry of the Cherkasy forestry district, also due to the fall of a UAV. Due to strong gusts of wind, the fire from a low-lying fire moved to a high-lying fire and spread to an area of about 2 hectares of young plantations. Foresters from three forestry departments and rescuers from the State Emergency Service were involved in extinguishing the fire. All three fires have now been extinguished. Foresters continue to be on duty at the locations to prevent re-ignition.
