Russia may use Ukrainian drones to attack targets in the Baltic region
Russia is considering using captured Ukrainian-made drones to attack critical infrastructure in the Baltic region and seeks to avoid responsibility for strikes on NATO territory. This was reported by the Lithuanian military intelligence, writes LRT.
According to the report, Russia may deploy captured Ukrainian drones to try to create uncertainty about the origin of the attack and in order to hide responsibility for any strikes on NATO territory.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas also confirmed this assessment.
“There is evidence that Russia is considering the possibility of conducting unconventional kinetic attacks against critical infrastructure in the Baltic region. It is quite possible that Russia could use Ukrainian-made drones for this purpose,” he said.
However, he did not provide details about potential targets or the timing of any possible attacks.

Lithuania previously said that it has intelligence that the Russian Federation is planning attacks on infrastructure, so as a precautionary measure, the protection of facilities, energy and transport will be strengthened.
At the same time, the country’s President Gitanas Nauseda stressed that he has no information about when and where these attacks are planned.
It is worth noting that Lithuania is a NATO member that borders the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad and Moscow’s ally Belarus. The country has tripled its defense spending since the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
